James Durie MRICS is Chief Executive of Bristol Chamber of Commerce & West of England Initiative which sits at the centre of Business West, the organisation that leads and speaks for over 22,000 businesses in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and wider area and is the leading chambers of commerce and business organisations in the UK. The Initiative, a 200 strong business leadership team, has a 30 year track record of success, enabling business and employers to take a very active role in shaping and influencing a long-term healthy future for all, recognising the central importance of work, enterprise and wealth creation.
James is a qualified chartered surveyor and spent 10 years in private practice in London, Hong Kong and Bristol prior to moving to a wider business career in 1999. He is the Executive Director of Business West and sits on a number of boards of organisations including Bristol One City and Homes Board, Temple Quarter Delivery Board and the WECA Business Advisory Board. He is passionate about helping make Bristol, Bath and the West of England the very best place to live and work for all of its citizens.
He is married with two teenage sons, lives in North Somerset and works in central Bristol and at Leigh Court.
